We had a little chat with our former colleague Leonardo, who crossed paths with us 4.5 years ago and is now taking great steps in his career. We talked about what he did in his current life, his past and future plans, and of course, AdresGezgini. We are waiting for those who want to be included in this pleasant conversation in our article.
Hi Leonard, for those who don't know you as a former Gezgin, can you tell us a little about yourself?
I'm originally from Nigeria and came to Turkey for graduate studies. I have a background in electrical and electronics engineering, focused on signal processing and machine learning. Over the past 10+ years, I've worked in academia and industry applying AI and computer vision to problems in medical imaging and other domains.
How did you decide to come to Turkey? What has been the most challenging situation for you in your education or working life?
I was drawn to Turkey by the opportunity to study at a high-quality technical university with an international student body. The most challenging situation was adapting to a new culture and learning Turkish. But the experience made me more resilient and open-minded.
You have a very productive career. In which field do you want to progress? Will you return to teaching at university?
My goal is to continue advancing state-of-the-art AI through research and development, while ensuring it is applied responsibly. I may return to academia at some point, as I enjoy teaching and mentoring students. But for now, I want to focus on solving real-world problems with ethical and accountable AI/ML.
How did you cross your path with AdresGezgini? Has AdresGezgini contributed to your current career/life? If so, in what ways did it nourish you?
I'm very grateful to AdresGezgini for giving me my first industry job where I could apply my machine learning skills. Working on fraud detection under the guidance of Dr. Şükrü Ozan was challenging but shaped my ability to deliver impactful and trustworthy data science solutions. The AdresGezgini team nourished my growth as an applied researcher.
What are your career suggestions to those who are considering applying for a job at AdresGezgini?
For those looking to join AdresGezgini, I suggest focusing on skills like data analysis, Software engineering, ML modeling, and communication. Being adaptable, taking initiative, and being empathetic are also key. The work is fast-paced so be ready to learn quickly!
We would like to thank Leo for this enjoyable question and answer event, and as AdresGezgini, we wish him success in his future life.
